So assuming the dd-wrt router and its performance not being the root cause in my configuration but obviously the modem itself in that setup (single user / bridged) or any of my settings. I actually excluded that option by connecting the modem to my PC directly (XEON 1230v2) without using the router. So seems to me like the modem itself seems to limit while being bridged!? So I assume this releases the WRT610n v2 with dd-wrt from the suspicion being the bottleneck!? The result is the same - bandwidth is limited to ~36MBit/s download. I connected my PC to the bridged modem and setup an dial-up connection - so the PC and it's network card would handle the PPPoE connection to the modem instead of the dd-wrt gateway. Performance problems of the WRT610N v2 I tried to exclude by some tests - I observed the CPU load during operation and also tried lower CPU freq.
